AIR BLIP brings the tennis of old TV games into your room, in AR. The rear camera shows your room just as it is, and a ball comes flying at you from the far side. Move the phone sideways, parallel to the wall, and meet the ball with the face of the phone. That is all it takes to return it.
The heart of the game is SQUASH. The far end is your room's real wall, and the ball bounces off furniture, shelves and whoever is standing there, coming back in ways you cannot predict — something we discovered playing in a café. The sounds are square waves, and a small, semi-transparent old-TV-game court in the lower left traces the rally in dots. It is free, with no ads, no account and no in-app purchases.
Your room is the court
Your phone is the racket
Just move the phone sideways to meet the ball coming from the far side. No need to turn your body. Every hit comes back to you as a square-wave blip and a tap of haptics.
SQUASH
The far end is your room's real wall. The ball bounces off furniture, shelves and people in ways you cannot predict. Score = returns × 100 + seconds × 10. The result screen shows your best.
VS COM
A COM paddle floats at the far end. Miss, and the other side gets 100 points. Furniture bounces are turned off here — it is plain ping-pong. COM predicts where the ball will land, but rallies and curve can fool it.
FREE
No wall. Hold the ball, aim, and tap to launch it into the room. Your score is how many people and things it hits.
Swing to curve
How fast you swing the phone at the moment of impact becomes spin, and the ball curves.
Better with LiDAR
On iPhones with LiDAR, real objects hide the ball and furniture bounces are more accurate. LiDAR is not required.
Bonus game: DROPS
With the front camera, move a cannon left and right with your hand — or your face and head. Pixel-art octopuses descend and shoot back. Three breakable shields, three lives. Tap to pause.
The feel of an old TV game
A black background, a custom 3×5 block font and square-wave sound. The tall court in the lower left is an old TV game seen from above.
Share only the score card
From the result screen you can share an image of your score. No camera footage goes into it — your room is never in it.
What we decided when building it
Hits are decided by position
As in Pong, if the face of the phone is where the ball arrives, it is a hit. Judging by swing timing breaks with the slightest latency. The swing only adds feel and curve.
A funnel-shaped court
On a rectangular court, a ball running along a side wall arrives almost from the side — about 80° — and cannot be reached. The court is wide at the far wall and narrow near you, so every ball is reachable. You still have to aim.
The room is the course
There are no built stages. Your real wall and furniture are the level design. Move things around and the same room becomes a new course.
Don't turn — slide
You move the phone sideways instead of turning your body. The movement is amplified 2.5×, so about 30 cm to either side covers the whole court.
Nothing leaves the phone
Camera images are used only on the device and are never saved or sent. There is no networking code at all. The only thing you can share is the score card.
